Integrating SOS, SAS, SES

Brian Gaston
Hello,

Im working on a system (middleware) that implements all of SOS, SAS, SES.  Its clear that 52 North has done a LOT of work on these specifications, and it looks like powering this middleware with 52 North would be great.

What is the deployment model for these different different web applications to share the same data?  In other words, if I register a sensor in an SOS database, can SAS use that same sensor record in that database for its business logic as well.  Or do these 3 systems need to be treated as 3 separate entities?

Thank you so much!
Brian

Dear Brian,

of these 3 components you can leave out the SAS. Using SOS and SES
should be sufficient. Our SAS developments are discontinued in favour
of the Sensor Event Service (SES). This more recent service interface
enhances the SAS concepts by adding new functionalities such as
advanced filter capabilities.

Regarding your question how these services can be combined: You can
use the SOS for storing the sensors and their data. As the SES doesn't
have a persistent storage for observation data you could rely on the
SOS as a datasource for the SES. For achieving this link you can use
our SOS-SES-Feeder:
https://svn.52north.org/svn/swe/incubation/SES-SOS-Feeder/trunk/

Best regards,
Simon

Re: Integrating SOS, SAS, SES

Hi Simon,
I have read your reply and I search the link you provided for the SOS-SES-Feeder, but it  alerts that I need to input my username as well as my password. When I try my account of this forum and it turns out to be wrong.  Therefore I'm here to turn to you for help. By the way, I want to know if the SOS-SES-Feeder resource contains a generated file that can be used directly?
Best wishes,
Dana

Re: Integrating SOS, SAS, SES

Hi henning,
Thanks for your reply and I have gotten the resource. I find it that the downloaded zip file contains some sorce code files, so I want to know if I should re-execute the code so that I can deploy the SOS-SES-Feeder or else? Is there any documentations or links that are helpful for the use or deployment of SOS-SES-Feeder?
Best wishes,
Dana

Re: Integrating SOS, SAS, SES

Hey Dana,

no separate end-user documentation available for this project. Sorry for
that!

Anyway, the project is quite small here's the locations which you can
consult to configure the application:

  - hibernate.cfg.xml (database settings)
  - configuration.xml (feeder settings)

Add/Change the SOS instance in the SOS table once the application has
been deployed in a servlet container (e.g. tomcat). Uncomment the
hibernate property `hibernate.hbm2ddl.auto` to create database schema.

Best

Re: Integrating SOS, SAS, SES

Hi Henning,
Thanks for your reply again. I have read the two files but I still don't know how to use the SOS-SES-Feeder clearly.I feel sorry about that. I have read some related forum posts but I don't get any information that can help me. I want to know if I should recompile the souce code to generate a executable file(.war or else) so that I can deploy it just as SOS and SES?
Thank you again for your help.
Best regards,
Dana

Re: Integrating SOS, SAS, SES

Hey Dana,

sorry for being unclear.

I haven't uploaded a pre-compiled release version on github so far, so I
fear you would have to build the project manually (via Maven) to get a
runnable .war file.

This post was updated on .
Hi Henning,
Thanks for you reply and I'm very grateful for your help. I try to use the cmd  mvn command to build the project ,however, there comes out some warning errors. The errors are as follows:

I'v tried to search the internet for some solutions but I couldn't find any useful information. So I'm here to turn to you for help again.
By the way, in the  "readme" file, only sos 1.0.0 is currently supported? What I have used is sos 4.3.7, is this ok?
Thank you again.
Best regards,
Dana

Re: Integrating SOS, SAS, SES

Hey Dana,

probably a wrong NOTICE file present in the repo. I will have a look at
it later.

You should be able to build the project via

  mvn clean license:format notice:generate install

Re: Integrating SOS, SAS, SES

Dana
Hi Henning,
Thanks for your suggestion.I have changed my mvn command from "mvn package" to "mvn clean license:format notice:generate install" but the building still failed. When I changed the command and tried again it warns that the mvn repo lacking two jar packges, the error message is shown below:

Then I went to the websitehttp://52north.org/maven/repo/releases/org/n52/sensorweb where the related jar packages are provided. However,I found two jars, they are as follows:

Their name are similar with the jars warned above. I downloaded them & rename them with the name "oxf-sos-adapter-2.0.0-alpha.3.2-SNAPSHOT","oxf-ses-adapter-2.0.0-alpha.3.2-SNAPSHOT" respectively and then copy them to my local mvn repository. Then I tried to build the project twice and failed again. The error message is as follow:

I don't know how to do with it.Do you have any suggestions? Sorry for taking your time.Thanks.
Best regards,
Dana
