addition dates type to observation description

and.vianello

Hi,

I need to describe my observations with an additional date type to phenomen time and result time.

Is it possible?

I need to register in DB how many days my samples stayed out from freezer before being measured.

Thanks a lot,

Andrea.

Hi Andrea,
for a similar requirement, we use the standard OM "parameter" element, supported by the last version.

Parameter is a named-value metadata that you can attach to each observation: you can find examples of InsertObservation with parameter in the SOS client GUI.

Not all operations support parameter: InsertResult or GetResult do not, as far as I know.

Hi Andrea,

another option is to use the OM_ComplexObservation with a swe:DataRecord
as om:result. Then the data record has two fields, one contains the
measured value and the other field contains the additional date.

Best,
Carsten

Thank you very much Stefano, this would be perfect for my work, but I cannot find the example in the test client.
I installed the 4.3.7 sos version, it should be enough.
I will search again or if you have a link or an xml example would be very kind from you.
Thank you again,
Andrea.

It was my fault: it's not in the last release, but in the development version (trunk). Beware: the DB changes exactly for supporting the parameter feature, so you have to re-create the schema.

Ok thank you very much for your answer, I think I will try the other suggestion in this conversation even if it looks more "complex" to do.
Thank you again!
Andrea.

Hi Carsten,
Is OM_ComplexObservation that you suggest already supported by 52N?

It's not easy to find a template for insert observations.

Probably your suggestion can solve better my needs, so I would like to test it if supported.
Thank you,
Andrea.

Re: addition dates type to observation description

Hi Andrea,

the OM_ComplexObservation observation is supported in the current
development line (52N-SOS 4.4.x,
https://github.com/52North/SOS/tree/develop). This version also provides
an InsertObservation example for the OM_ComplexObservation in the Test
Client.

How to build a 52N-SOS from sources is described in the wiki:

https://wiki.52north.org/SensorWeb/SensorObservationServiceIVDocumentation#B1_41_Building_from_Source

Best,
Carsten
